Anna Maria, Dr. Anna, Saraiva. This is how she is known by friends and patients. For me is Saraiva, since the time when we went to dance at her house after the Cultura Inglesa classes.
Time when we used a gramophone, Joaquim Nabuco was a residential street, and we had a bunch of friends.
Today, Joaquim Nabuco is an aisle of buildings, and the bunch of friends no longer exist. But the affection that brings us together is the same, cozy like a house where our destinies are being experienced. And Saraiva’s fate was the painting.
It is not an old thing, which always lived there, planted and visible.
It is a new thing, brought by a critical need that was not in psychoanalysis, and an almost musicality of gestures that she’s got from tai-chi-chuan for a long time.
Saraiva’s paintings are extensions of these gestures, transformation of the movements in lines and colors, continuation of a big cosmic breathing from the body. And as a body modifies itself and goes in search of integration, as well as Saraiva’s paintings search for their paths, in learning that it is not only technique, but dialogue.
In her, those who know her will find again her personality marks. And will see with pleasure that, like in life, in art too, for Saraiva the short way between two points is never a straight line. - Marina Colasanti
